Dan Dunfee

Saturation Diving with the Navy Experimental Diving Unit

Dan Dunfee began his diving career in 1950.  To say he has been around since the genesis of scuba diving is a gross understatement.  He is and engineer and innovator and has designed and built most of his initial scuba gear.

Dan joined the Navy in 1951 where he continued his design work.  He is a qualified hard hat diver, scuba diver and Navy EOT and UDT member.  He has been involved both in the Navy in the design of diving equipment, rocket technology, and he has exceeded in so many areas of diving so as to defy any attempt to briefly describe them.   <complete bio & contact info>

Despite his obvious technical interest and absorption over his career with the cutting edge, scientific areas of diving.  Dan has always been a supporter of recreational diving, working with dive clubs and directly helping to build diving in Mid-Atlantic area.

Recently, Dan has become involved in producing, directing and filming a television series, OceanQuest, which currently airs on Public Access TV in the Northern Virginia area.  The program is a half hour series devoted to all aspects of diving; form travel logs and aquatic life to extreme diving and experimental applications.

His talk tonight will be about the show's recent episodes concerning the Navy Experimental Diving Unit, a Navy unit that develops and tests new equipment and diving procedures and applications for our military.
